Customizer Seminar Spotlight 2

by ~Rob Caswell

July 22nd 2005 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Room: TBA

Rob Caswell comes to the hobby through his life-long passion for scale modeling, through which he’s been active in regional IPMS shows. Since entering the 12” figure field six years ago, he’s tried to promote scale modeling standards for the sixth-scale hobby. In 2001 he started CVI Insignia (http://www.cvi-insignia.com) with fellow modeler Don Winar in an effort to bring more variety and improved accuracy to sixth after-market patches. Rob posts his figure work regularly in online forums like The Sixth Division (http://www.onesixth.net). Most of his recent work is done to the stage he calls “detail complete”, where fine details are tweaked to make the figure as accurate as possible w/o going too heavy into full weathering. Rob lives in Western Massachusetts where he woks as a graphic artist.

In his seminar -- "Detailing WW2 Action Figures" -- Rob will cover a variety of techniques useful in adding more detail to stock 1/6th scale figures. This how-to presentation will cover an overview of painting basics like drybrushing and washes, as well as getting into specialized topics such as applying flock, simulating paint chips, making your own textured cammo helmets, creating custom straps and slings, some tips on applying after market insignia, and more.

Below are some samples of Rob's excellent detailing techniques -- drop by his seminar to pick up even more tips on how to make YOUR figures look like THIS ... only at Dragon Expo 2005!
