What after this followed?

The next day we were picked up from the main defense line. We then have blown up our tank crasher. By our resistance the Russians couldn't conquer any area.

The next night all men were evacuated up to the last man from our bridgehead. The German navy picked all of us up at a concentrated action up to the dawn. Small landing crafts and storm boats transported us over the sea to peninsula Hela.

A convoy brought us to the west a week later. This everything happened against Hitler's order..

After the arrival of the convoy we immediately must in the fight against the red army again. In the daily retreat we defended each other up to the Elbe, until the last day, May 3rd, 1945.

Summary:

I was uninterrupted at the front since January. Because hardly there was only still total war, one nobody was promoted more or an award got more, and the war then was for us at end.

The most important one: We had fulfilled our soldier duty, and thus also saved our naked life.
